KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To contribute towards fundraising strategy and planning

• Develop a trusts, statutory, foundation and lottery fundraising strategy in

liaison with the Director of Fundraising to deliver sustainable income streams

as well as annual operational plans and targets

To submit proposals within an agreed plan

• To develop and submit proposals packaging our client’s work into a strong

case for support

To identify sources of funding

• Undertake research to identify and develop a portfolio of existing and

prospective grant awarding bodies appropriate to the variety of

activities

To build relationships with and secure funds from new and existing grantmakers

• Establish and maintain relationships with leading personnel at grant-making

bodies

• Determine the most suitable projects and fundraising approach for each

organisation through careful research and networking

To manage the lifecycle of funding applications to trusts, statutory bodies, foundations and the Lottery

• Plan an annual calendar of grant applications in order to meet the annual

income target, ensuring that an appropriate value of applications are always in

the pipeline

• Liaise with project staff to identify suitable projects for grant funding, and

package them in such a way that they secure funding

To set, monitor and manage income and expenditure budgets

• In consultation with the Director of Fundraising set income and expenditure

budgets with detailed rationale behind figures

• Maintain and provide regular budget reports in an agreed format and to

deadline

• Develop appropriate contingencies

To record, monitor & evaluate fundraising activities

• Maintain complete and accurate donor records and appropriate administration

systems to ensure effective fundraising (including RaisersEdge)

• Provide regular reports to the Director of Fundraising in an agreed format and

to deadline

• Monitor performance against fundraising plans throughout the year and

identify potential issues and propose contingency plans where needed

• Set , manage and report against KPI’s (key performance Indicators)

To manage consultants, interim or permanent posts

• In consultation with the Director of Fundraising, manage, hire or recruit

additional resources as when business demands

Skills & aptitudes

• Ability to work with limited supervision to meet objectives

• Significant experience of working in a trust/statutory/foundation/lottery fundraising role

• Demonstrable track record of success in fundraising from grant-making bodies

including Statutory & Lottery

• Strong research & analytical skills

• Ability to identify viable projects for funding and evaluate fundraising opportunities

• Experience and ability to build and manage relationships with individuals often at a senior level

• Excellent writing and presentation skills with a clear and concise writing style

• Excellent ability of putting together proposal, making a strong

case for support

• Ability to plan and prioritise workload in order to meet application and reporting

deadlines

• Ability to work in partnerships with colleagues in order to deliver on objectives

• Ability to think at a strategic level, and to develop and implement successful

fundraising plans

• Sufficient understanding of finances in order to present and evaluate financial

information
